Own goals are always embarrassing but it’s not often you see two kicked in close succession, which is what the China Iron and Steel Association did last week, first by criticising Australian iron ore miners (two of which are Chinese owned) and then ignoring the fact that its Chinese demand as much as supply which has driven the ore price to a six-year high.
