Investors have dumped 'old guard' miners in the wake of disappointing results and returns

"Significant restructuring needs to continue and deal volumes are likely to reshape the industry ownership mix and hierarchy in the near future," PwC said in Mine 2016, which the firm claimed was the first in its long-running annual series (13 years) to reveal "a sustained deterioration in the viability of the top 40".
