SNCL sees mining work building

The deep mining construction winter is nearly over, says SNC-Lavalin global mining and metallurgy president, Jose Suarez. Speaking to Mining Journal from the company’s Montreal headquarters, Suarez said the tone and substance of conversations with mining leaders had changed significantly in a year, and the business unit was primed to make a stronger contribution to the rebounding group over the next few years.

While multi-billion-dollar infrastructure projects such as Montreal's new airport rail venture will re-charge SNC-Lavalin's (TSX: SNC) order book and remain cornerstones of its C$9-10 billion (US$7.1-7.9 billion) a year of revenues, Suarez said customised, generally smaller capital projects, and sustaining capital projects, would increasingly drive growth in the group's mining and metallurgy segment.
