A positive Reading

This year David Reading and his team completed construction of New Liberty, Liberia’s first ever commercial gold mine. But it wasn’t easy. A couple of years back during the fundraising process, the gold price suffered a massive rout, yet Aureus was able to fully fund the project with a combination of debt and equity. Then, during construction, the country was one of three West African states struck down by the worst Ebola outbreak in history. The company overcame the challenges to pour first gold at the end of May. Mining Journal readers have nominated Reading in the CEO of the Year category at the annual Outstanding Achievement Awards.
